After a brief hiatus, the cameras are once again rolling for the highly anticipated “Venom 3,” as announced by the film’s leading star, Tom Hardy, on his Instagram account. Hardy expressed his gratitude to the dedicated teams, cast, and crew who have played a crucial role in bringing the trilogy to this point. The journey from the first installment to the current production has been remarkable, marked by incredible friendships and familial bonds.

The resurgence of production was evident in a photo shared by Hardy from the set of “Venom 3” on Nov. 16, indicating that the shoot has been underway for several days.

This positive development follows the approval of a tentative deal by SAG-AFTRA on Nov. 8, effectively ending the 118-day actors’ strike. Simultaneously, Sony Pictures adjusted the film’s release date from July 12, 2024, to Nov. 8, providing the necessary time for the production delay caused by the strike. This delay aligns with industry trends, as other major films, including “Mission: Impossible 8,” have also faced significant postponements.

Building on the massive success of its predecessors, with “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” grossing $502 million globally in 2021 and “Venom” accumulating $856 million globally in 2018, “Venom 3” is highly anticipated. Kelly Marcel, the creative force behind the first two films, takes on the roles of director and writer for the trilogy’s third installment.

In his Instagram post, Hardy expressed pride and admiration for Kelly Marcel, describing her as a director, writing partner, and dear friend. He extended his support, emphasizing the trust he has in her instincts and decision-making. The actor’s return as journalist Eddie Brock, accompanied by the iconic Venom, adds to the excitement surrounding the film.

While the plot of “Venom 3” remains shrouded in mystery, the cast has been expanded to include Juno Temple from “Ted Lasso” and Chiwetel Ejiofor from “12 Years a Slave” in undisclosed roles. The end credits of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021 teased Venom’s presence, leaving fans curious about potential crossovers within Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, featuring characters like Morbius, Kraven the Hunter, and Madame Web.
