World Wide Technology Raceway is a 3.2 mile racetrack located in the western suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. It is the home of several major auto races, including IndyCar and NASCAR.

The raceway has seen a number of significant changes in ownership over the years; it was originally owned by Pat Patrick, who sold it to Roger Penske in 1996. Penske then sold the raceway to International Speedway Corporation (ISC) in 1999 for $323 million. ISC then made additional investments, totaling $40 million and renamed it as “Roger Penske’s World Wide Technology Raceway”.

In 2009, ISC then sold the track back to Penske for an undisclosed amount citing that they had insufficient time for it to be profitable since they were based out of Daytona Beach, Florida where NASCAR is primarily held during February and March with only one weekend during June when NASCAR races are held at Pocono Raceway or Michigan International Speedway

World Wide Technology Raceway, also known as World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway International Raceway, is a 14-turn 4.067-mile (6.471 km) paved track located near Collinsville, Illinois. It was the first American venue to host a Race of Champions event and currently hosts the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series National Hot Rod Association Midwest Divisional Championships and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Midwest Nationals.

The construction of the racetrack began in 1968 by oil entrepreneur Walter C. Trout Jr., who wanted to bring NASCAR racing to Illinois and provide a venue for other forms of motorsports as well. Trout had already been involved with building three tracks in California: Ontario Motor Speedway, Riverside International Raceway and Laguna Seca Raceway.
